Care Vocational fully recognises its responsibilities for child   and safeguarding protection.

Our policy applies to all staff and volunteers working in the College. There are five main elements to our policy:

  • Ensuring we practice safe recruitment in checking the suitability of staff and volunteers to work with learners.

  • Raising awareness of child  and safeguarding protection issues and equipping learners with the skills needed to keep them safe.

  • Developing and then implementing procedures for identifying and reporting cases, or suspected cases, of abuse.

  • Supporting learners who have been abused in accordance with his/her agreed learning and development plans.

  • Establishing a safe environment in which learners can learn and develop.


Preventing Extremism and Radicalisation Policy 2015 – 2016

Care Vocational is committed to providing a secure environment for learners and stakeholders, where learners feel safe and are kept safe. Care Vocational  recognises  that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility irrespective of the role they undertake or whether their role has direct contact or responsibility for learners or not.  ‘Safeguarding vulnerable people from radicalisation is no different from safeguarding them from other forms of harm’ (Home Office, Prevent Strategy – June 2015) Care Vocational delivery of the outcomes to all learners, as set out in s10 (2) of the Children’s Act 20041. This Preventing Extremism and Radicalisation Safeguarding Policy is one element within our overall arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of all learners in line with our statutory duties set out at s175 of the Education Act 2002.



The purpose of this policy is to ensure active, consultative commitment to health and safety management at Care Vocational.

To every manager, client, staff member, learner, visitor or person with business at Care Vocational; the policy is governed by the following legislation:

  • Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Health and Safety in Employment Amendment Act 2002, Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995, Health and Safety in Employment (Prescribed Matters) Regulations 2003, Injury Prevention, Rehabilitation   Compensation Act 2001

Care Vocational regards the promotion and maintenance of occupational health, safety and loss control as mutual objectives for everyone who works, studies, visits, or has business at the centre.    Health, safety is to be ranked equal with the centre’s primary aims and objectives and be integrated with all other functions within the centre.    To ensure a safe and health work environment, the centre will develop and maintain a Health and Safety environment, operational and management System.

At Care Vocational the classroom environment is supportive of teaching and learning by providing procedures for dealing with the problem of the candidate/student who is perceived to be disruptive.


The Policy and Process:

This document and policy is intended to provide due process in the treatment of students who are involved in an incident of disruptive behaviour.   A disruptive  learner is a learner  who engages in behaviour in the classroom that interferes with the process of teaching and learning. The procedure for dealing with this disruption in the classroom includes a number of rules and regulations which all staff should adhere to,  these are outlined in the  policy section of the website.
